Copyright and Licensing

Copyright and Licensing Information

When submitting a manuscript for publication, authors are required to sign a license agreement with QOLAC to allow us to publish their article. Under this agreement:

  • Authors retain the copyright of their published articles.
  • Authors grant QOLAC a license to publish the article and to identify itself as the original publisher.
  • Authors retain broad re-use rights, allowing them to include their article content in future publications.
  • QOLAC applies a Creative Commons license to all published articles, permitting third-party re-use under specific terms.
  • QOLAC published open-access articles under a CC BY-NC-ND (Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 International licence) or CC BY (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence) licence.
    • CC BY-NC-ND: The article can be shared for non-commercial purposes as long as the authors are credited. Permission is needed for commercial re-use or sharing adapted and derivative versions.
    • CC BY: The article may be shared and adapted for any purpose, including commercially, so long as the authors are credited.

We also offer license variations to accommodate funder and institutional open access (OA) requirements. For more information, please refer to our Guide to Licensing, Copyright, and Author Rights.
