QOLAC Medicine is a peer-reviewed medical journal published by QOLAC Corporation. The journal follows a continuous publication model, whereby accepted articles are published online as soon as they are ready. The journal compiles articles into two issues per year (January–June and July–December) for indexing and archival purposes.
Aims and scope
The journal’s mission is to disseminate clinically relevant research and insights that support evidence-based medical practice in an accessible format for busy clinicians.
QOLAC Medicine publishes primarily peer-reviewed original research articles, systematic reviews, clinical case reports, study protocols, data descriptor articles, and methodological papers. The journal also welcomes brief reports, perspectives on clinical and surgical procedures, and analyses of ethical, social, or policy issues in medicine and health care.
As a secondary focus, QOLAC Medicine welcomes research addressing pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology, pharmacovigilance, drug discovery and development, and the application of digital or artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in medical and healthcare settings.
In addition, QOLAC Medicine publishes at least one editorial in every issue and may occasionally include guidelines or commentary articles that complement its peer-reviewed content. These article types are commissioned or invited and are not subject to external peer review, but are evaluated and approved by the editorial team for relevance and quality.
The editorial team maintains full independence in all peer-review and publishing decisions. All research articles, reviews, case reports, protocols, and related submissions undergo rigorous peer review, managed directly by the journal.
Hybrid Open Access
QOLAC Medicine follows a Hybrid Open Access model. The journal publishes both open-access and subscription-based content. Subscription contents become freely available 24 months after publication to support open dissemination of research.
Open Access Content:
All open-access articles are freely available online without subscription charges or registration barriers. Authors retain the copyright to their work and grant permission for third parties to use, reproduce, and share the article under the terms of QOLAC Medicine license agreement, which follows the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). Further information about open access can be found here.
Subscription Content:
Some content in QOLAC Medicine is available only to subscribers. Access to subscription-based content requires an active subscription or the purchase of a single article or issue. Subscription options are available on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis. Institutional access may also be provided through participating organizations; a list of participating institutions can be found here.
All subscription content becomes freely available (Open Access) 24 months after publication to promote broader dissemination and long-term accessibility of research.
Article-processing charges (APC)
Open-access publishing is not without costs. Authors who publish with QOLAC Medicine are required to pay an article-processing charge (APC), which varies depending on the type of article and the level of service selected. The charges are $1000.00/$1500.00/$2000.00 for each article accepted for publication. Applicable VAT or local taxes may also apply.
Authors also have the option to publish their work under the subscription-based publication model without paying an APC. Authors must select this option during the submission process. Once the article is accepted as open access, the choice cannot be changed to subscription publication.
QOLAC Medicine offers an open-access membership program for corresponding authors whose institutions are enrolled. The program may cover some or all of the publication costs (more information is available on our membership page). In the case of authors from low-income countries, we waive charges as a regular practice. For authors from other countries who do not have sufficient funds, we may provide waivers or discounts on a case-by-case basis. After the submission process, authors can request a waiver or discount. For more information, please refer to our article-processing charge page.
You can find more information about research funders and institutions that provide funding for article processing charges (APCs). Please visit QOLAC Medicine funding and support services page for more relevant information.
QOLAC Medicine also offers open-access agreements that allow institutions to cover the cost of open-access publishing. You can check your eligibility by reviewing our open-access agreements.
